A Shibui Farewell...

The new year is now fully present around us, and with it comes a sense of renewed purpose.
As the frosted glitter of the festive period gave way to NYE celebrations, we were prompted to consider Nadinoo’s path for 2023. Admittedly, our growth is made up of continuous and sometimes unexpected evolution, but it’s still a journey that benefits from clear intentions for the year ahead.

To face forward with new plans, we first need to reflect on how we got here.
From Nadia’s hands in 2018 came the first collection of Shibuiwear. Inspired by the Japanese principle of shibui - pared-back, unobtrusive beauty - the collection was designed simply, functionally, and with a focus on a subtle, muted palette of natural cottons and linens.

Although we’ve departed a little from our earlier minimalism to the rich linens and bold patterns that now adorn our rails, this philosophy has stuck with us throughout the years, manifesting in the form of utility-centred silhouettes and considered, slow design.
Put simply, Shibuiwear is part of the patchwork that makes us who we are in 2023.

However, the fresh intention we want to set this year is one of reduction, as we simplify the way we work and remain conscious of our impact. We’ll be downsizing our library of styles to keep things small whilst continuing to feed the utmost care and concentration into innovating styles that represent how far we’ve come; our progress. This means our Shibuiwear line will be retiring in order shed light on newer work that embodies an invigorated sense of purpose.

Nadinoo needs to be a responsive, active space to mirror the constant flow of design and creation that occurs in our in-house studio - we aren’t a static operation. Just like the pruning of a plant, 2022 showed us that constant readjustment is needed to spark growth.

Our Shibuiwear collection will be leaving our website for good at the end of January, with selected garments remaining in our Oakham store until they leave us naturally. You may see elements reincorporated into our a story unfolds… collection in future, but it’s time to say goodbye to Shibuiwear.
